Teachers’ Study circle

A group of committed teachers got associated with QUEST in the year 2007. These teachers meet once a month in Saraswati Sadhan Kendra, the educational resource center of QUEST at Sonale to discuss various issues pertaining to education. Each of them select a topic / reading material and then make a presentation to the rest of the group. They share and discuss the difficulties they face while teaching and try to evolve a common solution.

For every meeting, the members contribute Rs 50/- to the group towards meeting expenses. Over the past 7 years, the group has purchased educational books worth Rs.6000/- from the surplus. Apart from this, the group conducts a campaign on Mahashivratri Yatra at Tilase village, to make an appeal to pilgrims to keep the river bed near the temple clean and save the fish. The campaign is becoming popular year by year and could be considered as an excellent example of low cost voluntary effort.

Some motivated teachers joined and completed the M.A. Elementary Education program from TISS and one of the teachers - Mr. Pralhad Kathole - has received a fellowship from Observer Research Foundation to document his journey as a teacher.
